In Cold Blood is a great novel. We read it in a college lit class dealing with Kansas. I loved it. My grandmother ate dinner with the Clutters (the family who was slain) a few months before they were murdered. Creepy.
The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society recently got put on my "to read" list too. Can't remember now where I read about it, but it sounded great. I have a gift card to B&N, so may get it soon.
